How to Care for Your Outdoor Furniture

A short seasonal routine is the difference between furniture that lasts five years and furniture that lasts twenty-five.

Everything we build is made to be left outside. Care is not about protecting furniture from the weather — it is about removing what the weather leaves behind.

Spring: a full wash

Mild soap, warm water, a soft brush. Work the brush into woven surfaces and poly slats, rinse thoroughly, and let everything dry in the sun before cushions go back on.

Avoid pressure washers on weave and on powder coat — both can be damaged by concentrated force.

In season: attend to spills quickly

Solution-dyed acrylic releases most spills with soap and water if you get to them the same day. Sunscreen and citronella are the two exceptions worth treating immediately.

Autumn: store soft goods, cover fire features

Cushions and mattresses should be stored dry and off the ground. Fire tables should be covered, and lids kept on burners when not in use.

Every few years: check hardware and touch up coatings

Check hardware and swivel bases each season, and touch up any chips in powder coat to keep moisture off bare metal.

If a frame or cushion ever needs more than that, your dealer can arrange service and replacement parts.
